those makeups were "improvised" on location during 3 very long shooting days (instead of 5, due to bad weather conditions) with my stock pieces and rented wigs.
One must always be able to get by with what is available, according to the circumstances.
A real feast, despite tension and fatigue.

Another improvised big make up artist feast : those 3 Orcs for a short film.
It was one of those too rare opportunities to do such makeups, but everybody was happy : director, actors, and us, 4 makeup artists, of course.
Let's hope we'll have soon more opportunities to do more makeups of this kind in France, in better conditions !
L'HOMME DE LA NUIT

For this film with a very heavy atmosphere, I was requested to do on the great actor Georges WILSON a leather mask supposed to hide a disfigured face, somewhat alike Phantom of the Opera or Dr Phibbes.
I used a chamois soaked and wrung and laid it tightly over the paster positive so that it took all the shapes.
After two days, the chamois was completely dried and rigid enough so I could cut off any excess before I added a flat thread above the ears. A double sided adhesive on the jaw and under the eye helped maintain the mask in place.
I don't know what happened of this mask since then.

Drowned since six months
Jean ROUGERIE, director of this play, asked me for a special re-usable mask that the actress, Valérie DELBORRE, could apply herself in a quick (± 10 mn.) backstage makeup change. I designed this foam latex mask for her and she only had to paint some black around her eyes after a summary glueing, the side edges being hidden by her hair and gown. On stage, it worked out fine.
It would demand much more time (and budget) to do this makeup properly for screen.

A know-it-all alien
This pseudo Alien, in fact a man supposed to come back from our far future, 4800 AC, had to walk amongst discotheques audiences.
The huge (2.8 l.) one piece foam latex false skull had to be invisible and applied by the magician's wife all along a long tour in the South of France.
Not easy to design, but it worked out OK.
